Accor Hotels to Develop Novotel in Oman

Novotel Muscat Al Khuwair will tap into growing demand for upper midscale travel in the Sultanate
In 2017, AccorHotels, the world’s leading travel & lifestyle group, announced the signing of a management agreement with Oman Hotels & Tourism Company SAOG, one of the Sultanate’s leading hospitality holding groups, to develop Novotel Muscat Al Khuwair.

The 200 spacious and luxurious rooms will mark the upper midscale brand’s entry into Oman in response to increasing demand for internationally branded mid-market hotels. Promising modern and modular amenities, Novotel Al Khuwair will provide a multi-service offer and contemporary accommodation.

Olivier Granet, Managing Director & Chief Operating Officer of AccorHotels Middle East, said: “As we watch Oman’s emergence as a leading tourism destination, we view the market as a fitting location to grow the footprint of our upper midscale Novotel brand in the Middle East. Through the development of Novotel Muscat Al Khuwair with our trusted partners, we will soon bring a new hospitality experience that is full of simplicity and modular design, to Oman’s expanding capital.”

“As the largest mid-market brand within the Middle East, Novotel has long established itself as a top choice in the region’s hospitality scene. We are confident that the Novotel Muscat Al Khuwair will be a significant addition to the brand’s network of over 30 operational and pipeline properties across seven markets in the region,” continued Granet.

Mr. Mohamed Abdulla Alkhonji Chairman of Oman Hotels & Tourism Company, said: “The signing of Novotel Muscat is a milestone moment in our five year plan to develop 10 new hotels across the Sultanate of Oman. The agreement to develop Novotel in Oman is reflective of a shared goal with AccorHotels to bring greater diversity to Oman’s hospitality portfolio, to leverage growing demand for what is a culturally rich destination for business and leisure travellers.”

Mr. Fred Vessali CEO of Oman Hotels & Tourism Company, said: “The signing of Novotel Muscat is part of our five years business plan to expand our hospitality portfolio to develop additional 10 new hotels in different parts of Sultanate of Oman. This is primarily to achieve the economic diversification planned by the government and to provide opportunities for our local and regional travellers to experience global hospitality services.

Located on Muscat’s Al Ghubrah Street – within a one kilometre radius of Muscat’s major shopping hubs, the Ministries Area and adjacent to prominent business and commercial centers – the hotel is expected to become a focal point for leisure and business traveller to the capital.

Visitors to the 200-room Novotel Muscat Al Khuwair can enjoy an all-day dining restaurant, lobby lounge and specialty restaurant. With 1000 square meters of space set aside for meetings, guests will have ample room for corporate or personal gatherings and events. To end a day in total relaxation, every guest will be invited to take advantage of the In Balance by Novotel fitness and spa facilities.

The development of the said hotel is in progress.
