    Al Falaj Hotel started its operation

     

  • 1976

    Ruwi Hotel started its operation under the Commercial Registration of OTC.

  • 1985

    Al Wadi Hotel in Sohar, started its operation under a name of Sohar Hotel LLC.

  • 1991

    OTC changed its name to Muscat Tourist Corporation (MTC) and registered with Muscat securities market.

  • 1992

    MTC acquired Sohar Hotels LLC and also acquired shares in Oman Hotels Company SAOG which owned Al Falaj Hotel.

  • 1998

    Sur Mercure Hotel (presently Sur Plaza Hotel) started its operation in Sur.


    The legal name of the company is Al Sharqiyaa Hotels and Tourism Company SAOC which is owned by OHTC.

  • 2007

    Desert Nights Camp LLC started its operation under OHTC.

  • 2008

    OHTC signed a Hotel Management Agreement with Aitken Spence Hotels International Limited for the operation of its hotels; Al Falaj Muscat,   Al Wadi Sohar, Sur Plaza Sur and Desert Nights Camp Al Bidiya.

  • 2016

    OHTC sold Al Falaj Hotel operation and its assets to Aitken Spence Hotels International Limited.


    Expansion of Desert Nights Camp by increasing its inventory from 26 rooms to 53 Rooms.       

  • 2017

    OHTC signed a Hotel Management Agreement with Golden Tulip Middle East – North Africa SAS for the operation of its Ruwi Hotel under Tulip Inn Brand.


    OHTC signed a Hotel Management Agreement with Accor Hotels to manage its upcoming 4 star Hotel under Novotel Brand in Al Khuwair. The development of the said hotel is in progress.


    OHTC signed a Partnership Agreement with Oman Tourism College (OTC)

  • 2018

    ISO 9001:2015 Certificate is obtained.

  • 2019

    Major refurbishment and expansion of Ruwi Hotel (Tulip Inn) has instigated. The property enhancement increased the operational room inventory from 99 to 183 guest rooms along with the series of upscale augmentations on the restaurant, banquet halls, additional meeting rooms, swimming pool, lobby lounge and other public areas.

  • 2020

    Desert Nights Camp officially changed its name to Desert Nights Resort

    Another Major expansion of Desert Nights Camp by increasing its inventory from 53 to 88 rooms including 6 deluxe plunge Pool cottages, SPA operated by an International SPA operator (Mandara),transformation of its existing restaurant to a luxurious modern design with additional seating capacity and enhancement of other guest facilities. 


    Covid-19 Pandemic has severely affected the Hospitality Industry

  • 2021

    ISO 9001:2015 certification is renewed.

  • 2022

    OHTC signed a Hotel Management Agreement with Accor Hotels to manage its 3 star Hotel under IBIS Style Brand in Ruwi.

  • 2023

    Al Wadi Hotel, Suhar is leased/rented to Ruwi Miles Trading LLC., the ownership remains with OHTC.

    OHTC signed an agreement with Best Western Hotels and Resort, for rebranding of its Sur Plaza Hotel to Best Western Sur.
